Where to go and what to do

Tavistock town centre and Pannier Market

Tavistock prides itself on its large number of independently owned and run shops, rather than being overpowered by national “chains”. There are many unique businesses selling delicious local produce, as well as arts and craft shops and galleries. There is a thriving Pannier Market – claimed to be the finest in the south west of England – that has been serving the local populace in its present building since the mid nineteenth century. A great place to browse and soak in the atmosphere before sampling its many excellent coffee shops and cafes. Read more
